It features a low battery indicator and a lock out so it won’t accidentally turn on during transport. This headlamp is comfortable, actually stays on your head, and is very easy to use. It has one button that you cycle through: night vision red LEDs to spot (which illuminates up to 295 feet) to flood (which starts low and gets brighter) to lock. The large transparent button is easy to access even in gloves and will also indicate when the batteries are low (at the 20% mark). Speaking of batteries, it takes 3 AAA alkaline or lithium batteries, which will have it aglow for up to 200 hours."
